Felix Brinker, born 1982, studied American Studies and Political Science at the University of Hannover and the University of the West of England in Bristol. He completed the M.A. program "Advanced Anglophone Studies" at the University of Hannover in 2012 with a thesis on "Grand Schemes & Hidden Plots: The Aesthetics of Conspiracy in Contemporary American Serial Television." From 2010 to 2012 he worked as a project assistant in the sub-project "Serial Figures and Media Change" (Prof Dr. Ruth Mayer and Dr. Shane Denson).

Felix Brinker is an associated member of the Research Unit and is currently working on his dissertation project—tentatively titled "Towards a Critical Aesthetics of Popular Seriality in the Age of Digital Convergence: Transmedial Superhero Serials in Contemporary American Film and Television"—which engages with serial storytelling in contemporary film and television serials and the political implications of active audiences.
