Kathleen Loock, born 1981, has been a research and teaching assistant in the American Studies program (English Department) at the University of Göttingen since 2007. Her research interests include the appropriation of Christopher Columbus by southern and eastern European immigrants in the late 19th and early 20th-century United States, autobiography studies, film-teaching methodology, as well as the study of science fiction and film remakes in American popular culture.

She is the administrator of the Research Unit "Popular Seriality—Aesthetics and Practice."
